Advances in Medical Diagnosis and Therapy Applications of Electromagnetic Fields

This session will focus on recent developments in the use of radio waves for medical imaging and therapy applications, which has attracted great interest from numerous research groups in recent years. For example, RF and microwave technology is currently being studied for: the early detection and classification of breast cancer; contactless vital sign monitoring (heart and respiration), non-invasive intracranial imaging and stroke detection; focused microwave hyperthermia for various types of cancer, etc. These applications involve research in various topics which include, but are not limited to:

  • Biomedical instrumentation including antenna design

  • Signal processing techniques and imaging algorithms

  • Performance assessment of existing and novel experimental prototypes for therapeutic and diagnostic applications

  • Medical device communication through electromagnetics

The session invites contributions in all the above as well as related fields. Contributors are encouraged to contact the session's organizers for additional information.

Organizers:

Dr Panagiotis Kosmas, King's College London ([email protected]);
Professor Yifan Chen, South University of Science and Technology of China ([email protected]),
Dr Fan Young, South University of Science and Technology of China ([email protected])

Paper Submission

Each contribution must be prepared according to the IEEE formatting guidelines (please check Author's kit). Manuscripts should be up to four (4) pages long and should be submitted electronically in their final form before the paper submission deadline, including an abstract, no longer than 300 words. Submissions must include the title of the paper, each author's name and affiliation. Check the Paper Submission for specific information on the electronic submission process. All papers will be peer-reviewed the Technical Program Committee and judged with respect to their quality, originality, and relevance.

Publications

All presented papers in the conference will be published in the proceedings of the conference and submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.
